Q: Can I provide a JPEG file to create imprint art? If not, why? |
A: No, we cannot use a JPEG for imprint art. JPEG is a compression technique for color images that does not contain enough data for good imprint art. An EPS or TIFF file format is what we would need for imprint art.

|
Q: What is the difference between a digital insert and four-color insert? |
A: Our digital inserts are printed on high speed digital color copiers. Although this technology has improved greatly in the last several years, since it is still a toner based system colors cannot be matched closely. The main benefits for digital color inserts are speed and lower cost for smaller quantities. Four-color inserts are printed using traditional four-color lithography and achieve a higher quality and more accurate result than digital. Because of greater set-up and running costs four-color process is usually reserved for orders of 1000 units or more.

Q: Are Journalbooks made in USA? |
A: All products in our 2006 Journalbooks catalog except our Leather Padfolios and Pedova journals are manufactured in our US factory. We do all the printing, cutting, binding, and imprinting here where we can monitor the quality and workmanship. Manufacturing in the US allows us to be more flexible and complete large orders of 50,000 units or more in a very short timeframe. We import some specialty cover materials from Europe and we also import some components like pens and pen holders from asia.
